How do you process the change you’re experiencing without becoming detached from your roots? How do you hold onto your sense of self while adapting to a new environment?
Fragments of Home explores the growth involved in adapting to a new space while preserving one’s sense of self:a personal study on place, memory, and the organic patterns through which we sustain identity in a new environment.
As living creatures, we are inherently connected to nature—we grow from it, interact with it constantly, and in our own ways, we resemble it. To me, nature is home. I find joy in observing and studying it as well as in capturing and collaging it; appreciating the physicality of each shape and texture, and the ways we are interconnected with life through other forms of life.
Moving from our small agricultural village in Israel to a big city was a shared journey for Orian and I, challenging us to adapt to a way of life vastly different from what we were used to. Together, we are defining our new space, blending elements of our past with our present environment.
This work incorporates intimate portraits and collages made from natural materials. Each fragment contributes to the redefinition of our home, allowing us to create our own foundation in an unfamiliar territory. Through this process, I seek to reconnect with my roots while nurturing my sense of self in our newly defined ground.
